LETTER: Pump track nice idea, but not at expense of ball diamond

ElliotLakeToday received the following letter to the editor from reader Keith Balfour in reponse to OPINION: Is it ‘game on’ for residents to save the Kiwanis ball field?

I am definitely and particularly opposed to any plan to eliminate the Kiwanis Ball Field!

Adding another recreational facility to our community makes perfect sense BUT eliminating one valuable and still used such site to replace it with another unproven activity-based play area, i.e. currently unavailable here in our fair city, is foolhardy and shallow thinking.

Ten or twenty years from now which of these two activities will still be of interest and used consistently by our population, young and/or old?

The truly bright and hence truly right answer is to have both.

The even brighter plan is to leave the ball field at its current historic home, for the kids, fans and Kiwanis, and if the new activity / site facility is a go, locate it somewhere else in town!
