NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ELLIOT LAKE
******************************
With Mother’s Day this weekend, the city is anticipating higher than average traffic at the Woodlands Cemetery. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the city is asking the public to follow social distancing rules in the bylaw and public health guidelines and above all be patient. Bylaw enforcement staff will be working over the weekend and the city will be closely monitoring traffic at the cemetery. If too many residents are attempting to gather at the same time, there may be a need to limit vehicles and access.

It is highly recommended to exercise judgment and be flexible with timing of any visits to minimize volume of traffic on site.

Horne Lake Park access:
A reminder that the shoreline of Horne Lake is a park and as such is closed to all access by order of the province. That means that walking along the asphalt pathways and/or using the fishing pier on the shore of Horne Lake is not permitted. This can be enforced by either the city’s bylaw officers or the OPP.
