For the third day in a row, Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) has reported only one new confirmed case of COVID-19.

PHSD also reported there are now 64 active cases being monitored. This is a drop from the 73 active cases reported on Tuesday.

With the pandemic being declared in March 2020, there have been 522 total COVID-19 cases reported to the Sudbury health unit, with 458 of those cases being reported as resolved.

With respect to local geography, the PHSD daily update page also reported that the single new case was deemed to have occurred within the Greater Sudbury Area.

In terms of possible causes of the new cases, PHSD reported one new case related to close contact and one new case was travel related. As in other days this past week, these numbers do not correspond with the current case count numbers because the health unit does not indicate when the causes are determined or how long it takes to post the cause numbers on its website.

Health Sciences North reported there are seven patients confirmed with COVID-19. According to the HSN daily update web page, two of those patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The five other COVID patients are in other units. There are also five additional admitted patients currently being investigated for COVID-19 at this time.

On the provincial COVID-19 report today, the Ontario government daily website reported there were 1,172 new confirmed COVID-19 cases across the province.  Also today, the province reported 67 new deaths had occurred in the previous 24 hours.
