Another day means another record number of COVID-19 cases in Ontario.
Today, Public Health Ontario is reporting 1,328 new confirmed coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours in the province. That shatters yesterday's record by almost 200 cases, despite fewer tests being administered compared to the previous day.
Yesterday, 1,132 new cases were reported, meaning today's numbers mark a 17.3% increase in cases since yesterday.
There were also 13 new deaths linked to COVID-19 reported today; seven were residents of long-term care homes.
Of the 1,328 new cases being reported, the bulk are from Toronto and the GTA. Toronto Public Health reported 434 of today's cases, while Peel Public Health reported 385 new cases. York Region reported 105 of the new cases in today's update. There are also 71 new cases in Ottawa, 68 in Hamilton and 56 in Durham Region.
Since Nov. 1, the province has confirmed 8,413 new cases of COVID-19, 7,098 recoveries and 97 deaths.
The province reported 37,600 COVID tests have been processed since yesterday's report, which is more than 2,000 fewer than Friday.
In November, health labs have processed more than 281,000 COVID-19 tests. The per cent of people who tested positive for COVID-19 has ranged between three and four per cent since Nov. 1.
As Public Health Ontario often observes on weekends, a number of hospitals (approximately 40) did not submit data to the Daily Bed Census for Nov. 6. As a result, the agency anticipates the number of hospitalized patients - currently at 374 - may increase when reporting compliance increases.
Since the pandemic began, Public Health Ontario has confirmed 84,153 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the province. Of those cases, 71,815 are reported recovered and 3,233 people have died.
