Algoma Public Health reports its 23rd case of COVID-19 in the Algoma District.

The infected person is self-isolating and their close contacts have been notified.

The source of exposure for this case is unknown, which is evidence of ongoing community spread in Central and East Algoma as well as Sault Ste. Marie and area cautions the health unit.

"Community spread remains possible and likely in all regions of Algoma," said the public health unit. "All Algoma residents must continue to practice physical distancing because any close contact could be a possible exposure."
