Latest list of Sudbury area students and schools identified with confirmed cases of COVID-19

Although all in-person schooling in Sudbury is being shutdown as of Monday morning, there are several cases where local school officials have reported some cases and outbreaks that require continued self isolating.

The in-person school shutdown was ordered Thursday as part of a lockdown measure imposed by the Ontario government in collaboration with Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD).

There are several newer positive cases of COVID-19 among Sudbury area students as revealed by area school boards.  Accordingly, classmates and others who might have been in contact with the positive cases are being asked to take precautions for the following incidents:  

1 - A second case of COVID-19 was reported at Confederation Secondary School as of March 13, 2021. The Grade 12 Physics Class SPH3U/4C0-01 and the Grade 11 French Class FIF3U1-01 are asked the self-isolate up to and including March 23, 2021.

2 - One confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported at Sudbury Secondary School as of March 13, 2021.  Students in the Grade 10 Civics Class CHV200-03 are asked to self-isolate up to and including March 23, 2021.  This precaution is also being directed at the morning secondary run of bus Route L109 and/or the afternoon secondary run of bus Route L012.

3 - On March 12, one confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported at R.H. Murray Public School. The JK/SK class in Room 02 has been asked to self-isolate up to and including March 25, 2021.  This precaution also applies to students on the morning elementary bus Route L876 and/or the afternoon elementary bus Route L113.

4 -Also on March 12, one confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported at Queen Elizabeth Public School. The Kindergarten-A class has been asked to self-isolate up to and including March 22, 2021.

5 - On March 12, Public Health Sudbury and Districts (PHSD) issued a notice that students from Chelmsford Valley District Composite School on a shared bus route are being asked to self-isolate up to and including March 19, 2021.  This involves the afternoon elementary run of bus Route N309. This is due to possible exposure to COVID-19 not related to the school. There is no confirmed case reported at Chelmsford Valley District Composite School.

6 - Also on March 12, PHSD reported a possible COVID-19 exposure on one shared route for students at Valley View Public School.  Students on the morning elementary run of bus Route N423 are asked to self-isolate up to and including March 22, 2021. There is no confirmed case reported at Valley View Public School.

7 - On March 11 a confirmed case of COVID-19 was reported to Bishop Alexander Carter Catholic Secondary School.  This incident involved the Class of HRF30 and HRT3M, as well as the Class of TCJ4C, TCJ3C and TCJ3E, said a news release.  Students involved with those classes are asked to self-isolate up to and including March 18, 2021

The school boards involved in these instances have notified the students and their families. PHSD said it will contact students who have been identified as close contacts of infected individuals.

All students and their families have been advised to adhere to general pandemic precautions such as wearing a mask, maintaining physical distancing and hand sanitizing.
