Elliot Lake offers seniors virtual info series

Sessions begin Thursday and continue weekly for the month of June and require preregistration

To celebrate Seniors Month this year the City of Elliot Lake is holding a series of virtual information sessions for seniors and caregivers with a variety of speakers who will share information about what they do and the services they provide.

The first session is Thursday, June 3, at 10 a.m. You must register for it by Tuesday, June 1. Presenters are Shelley Watt Proulx, Executive Director of the Counselling Centre of East Algoma and Celia Sankar, Executive Director of Diversity Canada Foundation.

On Thursday, June 10, at 10 a.m., a second session will take place online featuring speakers Phil Young, Community Safety Officer, East Algoma OPP and Wende Diemer, First Link and Education Coordinator, Alzheimer Society East Algoma. Registration must be submitted by Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

The third session is set for Thursday, June 17 and features Celia Bareis, Head of the Virtual Clinic, Elliot Lake Family Health Team (ELFHT) and Carol Norrish Seniors Mental Health Program, North Shore Community Support Services. Signup deadline is Tuesday, June 15.

Finally, the fourth virtual session will be held at 10 a.m on Thursday, June 24. It will feature Margaret Vivyurka of the Elliot Lake Horticultural Society. Deadline to register is Tuesday, June 22.

Each session will be about one hour long and held via Zoom. Questions and answers will follow the presentations. People will be notified by email that their registration has been accepted.
