In a bid to limit the possible spread of COVID-19, Blind River is cancelling several March Break events, Mayor Sally Hagman said in a news release.

“Be advised that our community is taking precautionary steps to ensure health and safety for you and your family,” the mayor said, referring to the closure of the town’s arena during March Break.

“Public skating is cancelled until further notice,” Mayor Hagman added of the measures the town is taking. “The arena will be closed during March Break. Ice updates will be posted as they become available.”

Junior A hockey (the Blind River Beavers) and figure skating have ended their seasons, she said.

“Thank you for your patience, we understand the inconvenience this is causing and look forward to hosting users again as soon as possible.”

March Break events at the Blind River Library have also been cancelled.

More information can be found on the town website.
