NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ELLIOT LAKE
*****************************
The severity of the global pandemic requires additional new measures to better safeguard our community against the risks involved in COVID-19.

Facilities/programs

  • As of Saturday, March 14 all municipal recreational programs are cancelled and most municipal facilities closed for the foreseeable future unless otherwise noted.
  • The Welcome Centre at the Collins Hall is closed.
  • Any memberships will be extended for the same period that the services are unavailable.

City Hall

  • City Hall remains open to the public but under strict new protocols.
  • Staff will limit interaction with the public to the main front desk counter only. There will be no individual meetings with staff.
  • The public is encouraged to pay bills online or use the drop box in front of City Hall.
  • If a resident has a question or needs service:
    • they must call or email their needs first
    • Then, if needed the final transaction can occur via the front desk counter (i.e. paying tax / water bills or picking up a building permit).

Transit

  • Transit is performing additional cleaning and disinfection of all buses with a focus on touch and grab points, such as buttons, railings, handles and straps.
  • The City and its service providers will make every effort to keep the transit system operational for daily commuters and facilitate access to essential needs.
  • However, the City will continue to take cues from senior levels of government and health authorities and will continue to focus on worker and patron health and safety when it comes to transit services. That may mean schedule changes or cancellation(s) if the need arises.
