Elliot Lake is reducing the hours of operation it will allow the public into city hall.

Chief Administrative Officer Daniel Gagnon said city hall will only be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily under strict new protocols aimed at reducing the possibility of COVID-19 contact.

The city is also cutting back services available during the opening times. They include monthly transit pass renewals, bus ticket purchases, picking up building permits and some limited services of the city clerk.

“Staff will limit interaction with the public to the main front desk counter only,” Gagnon said. ”There will be no individual meetings with staff."

The city is also “encouraging citizens to pay bills online or use the drop box in front of City Hall.” Tax and water payments can only be done through the drop box or online banking.

Gagnon said residents with question or in need of service “must call or email their needs first.”
