A student at Central Manitoulin Public School on Manitoulin Island has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Rainbow District School Board notified parents about the case on Sunday. The letter from Rainbow board director of education Norm Blaseg is now posted to the board’s website.

Central Manitoulin school remains open for in-person learning.

The student who tested positive is currently self-isolating. One class at the school has also been asked to self-isolate until Dec. 19.

The affected students, their parents/guardians and the relevant bus driver have been notified, the board said.

Public Health Sudbury & Districts will directly contact all parents/guardians of students who are on the student’s bus route, as well as all parents/guardians of students and school personnel who have been identified as close contacts.
