With COVID -19 cases on the rise in Ontario, Blind River Mayor Sally Hagman is urging residents to take precautions when celebrating Thanksgiving.

“This Thanksgiving weekend will be different for many of us,” she said in her address to council Monday evening. “With the provincial escalation of COVID numbers, we are told to be more diligent in social distancing, wearing masks, hand washing and keeping numbers within the province’s guidelines.”

The province is urging people to celebrate this Thanksgiving weekend with those living in the household only. The mayor also noted that residents should stay in touch with those living alone.

“I ask everyone to reach out via telephone to those who are spending Thanksgiving weekend alone,” Hagman added. “These are challenging times and we hope that residents continue to stay safe and stay distant and stay healthy.”
