Luc Morrissette, who ran for Council in the 2018 election, has thrown his hat in the ring again.

A flurry of nominees has appeared in the final week of the nomination period for those planning to contest the six seats on Elliot Lake City Council up for grabs in this fall's 2022 municipal election.

At last count, there were 18 unofficial nominees.

Among them is Luc Morrissette, who is running again this year after an unsuccessful try in 2018.

In a statement announcing his nomination, Morrissette spoke of the need "to put a plan in place to work at keeping our city-owned properties viable."

"We need a council that will work together for the prosperity of this city," Morrissette added.

"There will be some disagreements on views, but our community deserves people who will respect other councilor’s opinions and comments on subjects while making a proper choice that we, the taxpayers, will benefit from," he went on to say.

Others who recently filed nomination papers include Rick Bull, Helen Lefebvre, Andrew Wannan, Charles Flintoff, and Merrill Siedel.

The deadline for filing is Friday at 2 p.m.
