February 26, 1957 – February 11, 2024
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Thomas Fitzpatrick after a prolonged illness. He passed away at NSHN-Blind River, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 66. Loving husband and best friend of Gloria. Proud father of Jody (Michelle), Travis (Shawna) and Wesley. Cherished grandpa of Cadence, Skyler and Saoirse. Beloved son of Shirley Fecteau (Denis). Tom is lovingly reunited with his father the late Thomas Sr., and his sisters the late Cheryl Grosvenor (Bill) and the late Shannon Laplante. He will be forever missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tom was a gentle soul who was generous and extremely thoughtful to the people in his life. He was always willing to help and give to those in need. He loved to take his family for outdoor adventures, in particular fishing and swimming at Blueberry Island. Tom was a proud veteran truck driver for well over 30 years. His 3 sons would often accompany him on his trips. They have many fond memories of being on the road, over night and feeling like they were on vacation. He was dedicated and passionate about driving. He and his co-driver Gloria were long haul drivers, pushing their drive times to the limit. Tom was a “Trekkie” and loved all things sci-fi. He was an avid dice, dart and pool player who also enjoyed martial arts and playing video games with his sons when they were young. Tom was always willing to listen to what you had to say and would give good life advice. We will forever miss his wisdom, his soft voice and his simple take on life.
The family wishes to thank the staff at SAH and NSHN-Blind River, Dr. Amir and palliative care nurse Jennifer, as well as Tom’s homecare PSW’s for the excellent care they provided.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be announced and held closer to spring.
