At this time of year, as the sun comes up a little more slowly and the mornings feel a little more sharp and crisp, we come to the realization that winter will be upon us very soon. In response, as Canadian do, we buckle down and turn to celebrations and of course, all things food.
A little over an hour’s drive from Sudbury, as you head to the North Shore of Georgian Bay, sits the village of Killarney. Having gone through multiple iterations as a hub for logging, fishing, fur trade and mining, the village of Killarney now trades heavily in tourism. Through its network of resorts from all around the Great Lakes, Killarney Mountain Lodge participates in a foodies dream come true called "Chefs Across the Great Lakes." This program has been running now for about three years and is often sold out in a few days.
On October 10th, 2018, Killarney Mountain Lodge will be hosting chefs from the Riverside Inn located in Leland Michigan. The menu includes includes a pan-seared venison filet with coffee-roasted carrots, parsnip puree and house made demi-glace. At the end of the dinner, as is tradition, the chefs come out and explain the concept behind their creations and take a chef’s bow.
The perfect antidote to the impending chill of winter? See for yourself.
