Woman looking for hairdresser almost hits police cruiser

On Oct. 22, 2018 at 8:10 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were on regular patrol duties on Ontario Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake, Ontario.

Police observed a vehicle parked in the middle of the street on Ontario Avenue. As police approached the vehicle, it crossed the centre line and continued directly towards the police vehicle. 

The officer activated the emergency lights and the female driver eventually stopped, nearly hitting the cruiser. Police spoke to the female driver who said she was looking for a hair dresser. As a result, a traffic stop was conducted.

Deborah Milne, 69 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Careless driving, contrary to section 130(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
