Wanted man caught in RIDE check

On Nov. 17, 2017, at 9:10 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on Axmith Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake to check on a male who was supposed to be abiding by numerous release conditions.

The male was previously charged and released with conditions, one of those being a nightly curfew.   

On Dec. 2, 2017, the East Algoma OPP were conducting a RIDE check program on Highway 108 and Airport Road in the City of Elliot Lake. A southbound vehicle was stopped and the male was in the passenger seat. As a result, police arrested the male.

Raymond Young, 26 years of age of Elliot Lake, Ont., was charged with:

  • Fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ont. on Dec. 2, 2017.
