Two charged after suspected cocaine, methamphetamine seized during traffic stop

Driver and passenger, both from Spanish, Ont., face numerous charges

MCDOUGALL TOWNSHIP - On Nov. 12, 2019 at approximately 8:45 p.m., members from the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were conducting radar enforcement as part of a focused patrol to reduce fatalities and injuries related to motor vehicle collisions. Police stopped a speeding motor vehicle and found the driver to be driving while suspended and both driver and passenger in possession of suspected controlled substances.

Officers seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, cannabis and a quantity of Canadian currency.

As a result of further investigation the driver, Jimi Carrine, age 40 of Spanish, Ont. was charged with:
    •    Have care or control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to Section 12(1) Cannabis Control Act, 2017,
    •    Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) Criminal Code, joint charge with passenger,
    •    Possession schedule 1 cocaine contrary to Section 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substance Act, joint charge with passenger,
    •    Driving while under suspension x2, contrary to Section 53(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and
    •    Speeding 1 - 49 Km/hr over the posted limit, contrary to Sec 129 HTA.

The passenger, Shelly McAllister, age 30 of Spanish, Ont. was charged with:
    •    Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) Criminal Code, joint charge with driver,
    •    Possession schedule 1 cocaine contrary to Section 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substance Act, joint charge with driver,
    •    Possession schedule 1 cocaine contrary to Section 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substance Act and
    •    Possession schedule 1 methamphetamine contrary to Section 4(1) Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

Both accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Dec. 19, 2019.
