SPANISH - On Dec. 23, 2017, shortly after 8 a.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment received information of an impaired driver in a pick-up truck that had just left the Town of Espanola and was westbound returning to the Town of Spanish.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., police observed the westbound pick-up truck on Highway 17 in the Town of Spanish. The officer activated the emergency lights on the cruiser where the vehicle turned onto Cutler Avenue and a traffic stop was initiated.

While speaking to the male driver the officer determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. The male was arrested and taken to Blind River Detachment.
