Traffic stop leads to charges for Elliot Lake driver

Police say the 25-year-old had falsely identified them self during the investigation

On June 1, 2020 at approximately 12:15 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.

Police spoke to the driver who identified them self with identification that was not a driver's license. After further investigation, it was learned that the driver had falsely identified them self, and the driver and passenger were currently in contravention of numerous release conditions.

As a result, the driver was arrested and charged.

Jessie Lynn Fournier, 25 years of age of Elliot Lake, was charged with:
    •    Fail to comply with undertaking (two counts), contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
    •    Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (Identity Fraud), contrary to section 403(1)(d) of the CC,
    •    Use, deals, acts on forged document, contrary to section 368(1)(a) of the CC,
    •    Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on June 2, 2020.
