Traffic stop leads to charges for Blind River driver

BLIND RIVER – On May 4, 2020, members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.

At approximately 4:56 p.m., police observed a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Causley Street with a bent front plate. A query of the plate revealed the validation sticker was expired and a traffic stop was initiated. Further investigation determined the vehicle was not insured.

As a result of the investigation, Eric Bouillon, age 33 of Blind River, was charged with:

  • Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway-No Insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act; and with
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated Permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 15, 2020.
