Traffic enforcement in Mississauga First Nation nets charges for two

One driver was charged with not having insurance and the other was a suspended driver, police say

MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION - On Feb. 17, 2021, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties in the community of Mississauga First Nation.

Police were conducting traffic enforcement and shortly after 11:15 a.m., a traffic stop was initiated on Village Road. A query revealed the vehicle was not insured.

As a result of the investigation, Olivia Stevens, 45 years of age from Blind River, was charged with: 

  • Owner operate motor vehicle on a highway, contrary to section 2(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on April 27, 2021

Police were conducting traffic enforcement and shortly after 11:45 a.m., a traffic stop was initiated on Park Road.  A query revealed the driver was suspended.

As a result of the investigation, Jaime Morningstar, 43 years of age from Mississauga First Nation, was charged with: 

  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on April 27, 2021.
