BLIND RIVER - On Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Confederation Street in Blind River.

At 4:26 p.m., a pickup truck approached the R.I.D.E. location. Officers observed a passenger in the pickup truck known to police to be on bail conditions. The passenger was subsequently arrested for violating the bail conditions. During the arrest, officers also located property obtained by crime.

As a result of the investigation, Shawn Ranoo, 23 years of age from North York, was charged with:
    •    Fail to comply with recognizance, four counts, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC; and
    •    Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a).

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
