On Feb. 23, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls regarding a suspicious person in Espanola.
During the police interaction, an accused person was arrested and sustained an injury as a result. The accused was then transported to hospital for medical attention.
The OPP has notified the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.
