Victim reports being slashed by a knife

A female suspect was arrested and charged

On Jan. 7, 2018, at approximately 11:28 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a knife related call at a residence on Albert Street in the City of Elliot Lake, Ont.

The complainant had reported being slashed by a female with a knife. The involved persons had an argument over drugs and an altercation took place. The female fled on foot prior to police arrival but was located and short time after and subsequently arrested.

Heidi Shaw, 35 years of age of Elliot Lake, Ont., was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Robbery and wounding, contrary to section 344(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ont. on Jan. 8, 2018.
