Public access restricted at area OPP facilities

Due to the current provincewide stay-at-home order, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is restricting public access to facilities and detachments.

In a news release issued today, the OPP stated that those who need access to services and facilities located in Blind River, Thessalon and Elliot Lake must first make an appointment.

"Individuals will be pre-screened and are required to have proper personal protective equipment prior to entering the detachment," the release states.

BLIND RIVER - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is taking action to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 by restricting the access to its facilities, including detachments, across the province.

The OPP is limiting the processing of routine criminal record checks/vulnerable sector checks and finger printing to essential workers/volunteers only. Anyone seeking entry to OPP Blind River, Thessalon and Elliot Lake Detachments must make an appointment first. Individuals will be pre-screened and are required to have proper personal protective equipment prior to entering the detachment.

If you require any detachment-based service, including criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks, please call 705-356-2244 for Blind River, 705-848-6975 for Elliot Lake, and 705-842-3244 for Thessalon in advance for an appointment. Our operating hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
