On Jan. 11, 2022, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on John Street in Espanola.
A search of the residence led to the seizure of cellular phones, electronic devices, drug paraphernalia, over $9000 in Canadian currency, almost 80 grams of suspected Fentanyl, and over 22 grams of suspected Cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is over $10,000.
Orvelle Buckley, 36-years-old from Sudbury was charged with:
- Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Resist peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC
- Obstruct peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - Opioid (Other Than Heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA)
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - Other Drugs, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on January 14, 2022.
Philippe Julien, 35-years-old from Espanola was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on March 7, 2022.
