Police seize 68 Oxycodone pills, 15.5 methamphetamine tablets

ELLIOT LAKE - On June 16, 2017, at approximately 8:38 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting regular patrol duties on Lauzon Crescent and Algom Road in the City of Elliot Lake.

A vehicle drove by police with studded snow tires. A traffic stop was conducted, as studded tires are required to be removed by June 1. When police spoke to the male driver, marijuana was observed in the vehicle and a strong odour of marijuana was emanating from inside the vehicle. 

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 68 Oxycodone pills, 15.5 methamphetamine tablets, 3.4 grams of hash oil, and 0.4 grams of marijuana.

In addition, the East Algoma Crime Unit and Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted with the investigation.

David Jack (DJ) WILLETT, 27 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Oxycodone, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance - Cannabis resin - under 1 gram, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, Ontario on Aug. 1, 2017.
