OPP rescue hunter after overnight search near Thessalon

The 69-year-old hunter was located with minor injuries and slightly hypothermic

A hunter has been found safely after an overnight search by OPP near Thessalon.

Police say they were notified on Saturday at 11:15 p.m. that a 69-year-old hunter had gone hunting at 10:30 a.m. that morning and failed to meet up with his son at the designated spot.

According to a press release issued today, the 69-year-old was meant to meet his son on Mile Marker 17 Rd., off of Hinkler Rd. in Meen Township. 

On Sunday morning at approximately 8:25 a.m., the hunter was located by emergency response team members near Mile Marker 15  Rd., slightly hypothermic and with minor injuries.

OPP Aviation Services Unit assisted in the extraction of the hunter to an ambulance. He was transported to a local hospital in Elliot Lake.
