(UPDATE: Withdrawn) Ongoing neighbourhood dispute results in mischief charge for 72-year-old man

On Sept. 14, 2020, at approximately 10:37 a.m. members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called in relation to a mischief to a vehicle on Ste Camillus Crescent in Elliot Lake.

The complainant reported backing out of the driveway when a neighbour blocked the vehicle with another. The neighbour then exited and commenced hitting and damaging the vehicle. There had been on-going previous disputes and tension between the neighbours.

[Charge withdrawn], of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Nov. 3, 2020.
