Two Elliot Lake OPP officers went beyond the call of duty during a recent incident in the city.

Constables Rick Dickinson and Adrienne Wenzler attended numerous calls for service at a residence recently in Elliot Lake.  While at the residence, it was evident that the family was in need of assistance.

It proved, initially, to be more assistance than what police could provide.

“The officers took it upon themselves to mention some of the issues to a local retail store in town,” Constable Phil Young, community service officer said. “The owner of the store then donated over $200 worth of food and clothing. Additionally, a lady at the store overheard what was being discussed, and she provided and gift card for $50 out her own pocket.”

Constables Dickinson and Wenzler delivered the goods to the family who were extremely appreciative.

“The mother was crying out of joy and the child was smiling from ear to ear,” Constable Young said of the encounter.

The names of the individuals involved are not being published at their request.

“A definite job well done by all,” Constable Young said. “This made a family very happy this Christmas season.”
