North Shore man charged with assault

The common-law couple were separated and an argument ensued at their residence

NORTH SHORE - On Oct. 23, 2017, shortly after 12 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a 911 call where a female's husband was refusing to leave and she feared for her safety at a residence on Wagoosh Lake Road in the Township of the North Shore. 

The common-law couple were separated and an argument ensued at their residence. Police determined on Oct. 18, 2017 there was another argument where the male became physically assaultive towards his wife. The male was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old male from the Township of the North Shore, Ont. was charged with: assault-spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Dec. 7, 2017.
