BLIND RIVER - On Aug. 18, 2018, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to bail violation were a male was on conditions to abstain from communicating with his common-law wife in the Town of Blind River.

On Aug. 16, 2018, a male from Blind River was charged with assault - spousal (x2), fail to comply with probation order and outstanding charges of mischief and fail to comply with probation order stemming from past domestic disturbances.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., police conducted a vehicle stop on Michigan Avenue in relation to the bail violation. The male was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by his common-law-wife and was in breach of his conditions. The male was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old male from Blind River, Ont. was charged with:
    •    Fail to comply with recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC); and with
    •    Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC  

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Oct. 4, 2018.
