Man accused of damaging a residence he wasn't supposed to be at

He faces a total of ten charges

On July 25, 2019, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence on Gillanders Road in the City of Elliot Lake, Ont. in relation to a male breaching prior release conditions.

The complainant reported the male at a residence that he was not supposed to be at. The male was [allegedly] out of control and damaging property inside the house. Police attended and arrested the male a short time later.

Keith Meawasige, 41 years of age of Elliot Lake, Ont., was charged with:

  • Fail to comply with recognizance (eight counts), contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Mischief under $5,000 (two counts), contrary to section 430(4) of the CC.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ont. on July 26, 2019.
