Impaired driver reported at gas station

 After investigation, the driver was arrested and charged. His SUV was towed and impounded and his driver's license was suspended

On Aug. 19, 2019, at approximately 3 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police were called to a gas station on Highway 108 in Elliot Lake, Ontario in regards to a male driving a vehicle who was possibly impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The complainant stated that they watched the male drive to that location.  The male then exited his small Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and exhibited suspicious behaviour while speaking to another male at the gas station. Police attended the location and spoke to the male driver. After investigation, he was arrested and charged. His SUV was towed and impounded and his driver's license was suspended. 

Devon Koens-Maynard, 24 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, Ontario on Sept. 24, 2019.
