Here's your chance to learn what it takes to be an OPP officer

BLIND RIVER - On May 25, 2019, the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be hosting a Provincial Recruitment Day Open House at the detachment on Causley Street in Blind River.

Members of the public are invited to the detachment to view OPP vehicles and equipment and speak with OPP members who will be present to promote a career within the OPP. No registration or tickets are required for the event.

The following specialty units will be present in Blind River for the Open House:

  • OPP Canine Unit OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit
  • OPP Highway Safety Division
  • OPP Explosives Disposal Unit
  • OPP Marine Unit
  • OPP Auxiliary Unit
  • OPP Technical Collision Investigators
  • OPP Wellness Unit
  • OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT)
  • OPP Breath Technicians and Drug Recognition Experts

"I want to encourage those who have considered a career in policing to attend our open house and see the great opportunities the OPP has to offer," said East Algoma OPP's "Recruitment Ambassador" Acting Detective Constable Kaitlyn Good. Acting Detective Constable Good will be on hand to provide recruitment information and insight into career opportunities within the OPP.

Members from the detachment will be providing guided tours of the facilities.

Members of the public attending the event are encouraged to park on Leacock Street behind the detachment as the majority of the parking lot will be cordoned off to host the OPP specialty units.
