ESPANOLA - On Oct. 7, 2019, officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit responded to a report of a sexual assault on a young person in Espanola, Ont.
As a result of the investigation, 48-year-old Mark Giambattista, from Espanola, Ont. has been charged with:
• Sexual interference, contrary to section 151 of the Criminal Code (CC.);
• Sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, contrary to section 271 of the CC.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Dec. 2, 2019.
