Elliot Lake stabbing still under investigation

Victim is recovering in ICU, police say

The investigation into a March 11 stabbing in Elliot Lake has now been handed over to the OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch.

The Criminal Investigation Branch manages homicides and other serious criminal matters.

Police say the incident took place between 7:40 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the corner of Axmith Avenue and Frame Crescent.

A 16-year-old was arrested and charged with attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault.

The victim sustained life threatening injuries and is recovering in an Intensive Care Unit in hospital.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Sault Ste. Marie on March 17, 2021.
