Elliot Lake man accused of threatening roommate with knife

ELLIOT LAKE - On Feb. 18, 2019 at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an apartment complex on Spruce Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake, Ont.

The complainant reported that his roommate had taken non-prescribed drugs throughout the night before. He blamed the complainant for the troubles he was having. The male grabbed (allegedly) the complainant by the throat and punched him in the face. The complainant also reported being threatened with a knife. Police subsequently arrested and charged the male.

David Anderson, 60 years of age of Elliot Lake, Ont., was charged with:
    •    Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC),
    •    Assault with a weapon (two counts), contrary to section 267(a) of the CC.

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River, Ont. on Feb. 19, 2019.
