Drug charges stem from police responding to alarm

A 25-year-old faces charges as a result of the police response

ESPANOLA - On Aug. 25, 2019, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm on Spruce Street in Espanola, Ont.

While at the scene, officers located a male in possession of break in tools. As a result of the investigation, Jordan Lacosse, age 25, of Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, Ont. has been charged with:

  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Possession Break In Instruments, contrary to section 351(1) of the CC;
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Fentanyl, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA); and
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury, Ont. on Aug. 28, 2019.
