Disturbance call nets Blind River man multiple charges

BLIND RIVER - On Sept. 14, 2018, members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Eastman Road in the Town of Blind River.

Investigation determined a male had damaged his girlfriend's parents' garage door. While the 22-year-old girlfriend was attempting to calm the male down, he (allegedly) threatened to damage the house and hurt everyone inside and left on foot. Police located the male at his sister's residence on West Street.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old male from Blind River, Ont. was charged with:

  • Uttering threats - cause bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Uttering threats - cause bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC; and with
  • Fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to section 145 of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on Sept. 19, 2018.
