BLIND RIVER – Bad relations between neighbours and repeated calls to police have resulted in charges for two Blind River residents, Ontario Provincial Police say.

On May 28, police say members from the East Algoma Detachment of the OPP responded to multiple neighbour disputes at an apartment complex on West Street in Blind River.

Investigation determined a complainant had first reported a property related incident the day before, which police had deemed to be a civil matter.

The complainant who was not satisfied with the police response and continued to call police to report the same incident eight more times, police said in a news release.

On May 28, shortly after 8 p.m., police made an arrest.

Ricky Meinzinger, 65, of Blind River was charged with "harassing communication".

Two days later, on May 30, shortly after 1 p.m., police say they responded to another neighbour dispute at the apartment complex on West Street involving the same neighbours.

Police said Meinzinger reported his neighbour had threatened to punch him in the mouth.

As a result, Mike Johnson, 45, of Blind River was charged with "uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm".

Meinzinger is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 6.

Johnson is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Aug. 10.

None of the allegations has been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
