On Nov. 15, 2018, members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a disturbance at a residence on Valley Crescent in Elliot Lake, Ontario. Police later arrested a male and a female was found deceased.

Members of the East Algoma OPP Crime Unit continued their investigation under the direction of Detective Inspector Rob Matthews of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

Wayne McLeod, 64 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario is charged with:

  • First Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

Diane McLeod, 67 years of age, of Elliot Lake, Ontario was found deceased.

The accused has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, on Nov. 29, 2018.

A publication ban has been imposed by the court and no further details will be released.
