Charges laid after dispute between siblings

Things escalated when one sibling assaulted the other and threatened them with a knife

On Oct. 19, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a family dispute at a residence on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.

The complainant reported an altercation between siblings. However, things escalated when one assaulted the other and threatened them with a knife. Police located and arrested the person. 

After investigation, Jordan Scriver, 23 years old, of Wasaga Beach, was charged with: 

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Assault With a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC
  • Uttering Threats - Damage Property, contrary to section 264.1(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Dec. 7, 2021.
