California driver facing impaired driving charges

A 41-year-old California man is facing impaired driving charges after he was pulled over by the OPP and given a field sobriety test.

Saeed Ashtavi is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Feb. 7, 2022.

On Jan. 13, 2022 at approximately 8:27 a.m. the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle all over the road on Highway 17 in Walford.

Officers located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. Officers conducted a standard field sobriety test (SFST) which the driver performed poorly and was subsequently arrested.

Saeed Ashtavi, 41-years-old from Tarzana, California, is charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Feb. 7, 2022.
