Blind River woman accused of failing to stop for school bus

The incident took place at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, and the vehicle and driver were located shortly before 5:00 p.m.

BLIND RIVER - On Feb. 13, 2020, shortly after 3:30 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint in front of a local school on Michigan Avenue in the Town of Blind River where a vehicle met a school bus with its lights and stop arm activated and proceeded through the lights.

A licence plate number was provided and shortly before 5:00 p.m., the vehicle and driver were located in the Town of Blind River.

As a result of the investigation, Michelle Schryer, 38 years of age from Blind River, Ontario, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with:

  • Fail to stop for school bus - meeting, contrary to section 175(11) of the Highway Traffic Act.

Please drive safe around school areas and pay attention to the school bus lights and stop arms.
