Avoid area of Beckett Boulevard, Lawrence Avenue and Lisbon Road, say police (photos added)

Drones, dogs, tactical unit, crisis negotiator and other OPP police are on the scene of a disturbance

On March 21, 2019, at approximately 7 a.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called in relation to a disturbance at an apartment on Beckett Boulevard in Elliot Lake, Ontario.

The OPP are requesting the public to stay away from the area of Beckett Boulevard, Lawrence Avenue, and Lisbon Road. This is to ensure police are able to carry out their duties effectively and safely. There is no danger to public safety at this time.    

Assisting with the investigation are the OPP's Canine Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team Members (ERT), East Algoma Crime Unit, Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), Crisis Negotiators and the Critical Incident Command (CIC).   

The investigation is on-going and further information will be provided when it becomes available.
