Arrest made after knife pulled on homeowner near Blind River, say OPP

MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION - On April 8, 2021, at approximately 3:59 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of edged weapon being pulled on an individual at a residence on East Street in the community of Mississauga First Nation.

The investigation determined two people had been consuming alcohol and a knife was pulled on the home owner along with some threats made. No injuries sustained.

As a result of the investigation, Aldrick Niganabe, 44 years of age from Mississauga First Nation, was arrested and charged with:
    •    Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and with
    •    Utter threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC

The accused was later released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 6, 2021.
