23-year-old from Spanish faces assault, weapons charges after domestic disturbance

Police say the accused has also been charged with mischief and obstructing a peace officer

SPANISH -  On March 21, 2021, shortly after 1:00 a.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a domestic disturbance in the Town of Spanish.

As a result of the investigation, a 23 year-old person, from Spanish, was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Public mischief, contrary to section 140(1)(a) of the CC;
  • Obstruct peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC; and with
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on May 6, 2021.
