18-year-old faces impaired driving charges following collision

SERPENT RIVER FIRST NATION - On Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 5:23 a.m., members of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police to a report a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 on the Serpent River First Nation.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the uninjured driver. Officers determined that he had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Levi Belsito-Chiblow, an 18-year-old from Mississauga First Nation, was arrested and charged with:
    •    operation while impaired - alcohol, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and
    •    operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, Ont. on Aug. 22, 2019.
